Eight persons died and others 46 injured in 140 fire outbreaks recorded in Kaduna State between June and October, the state fire service, has said.
The Director of the Kaduna State Fire Service, Mr Paul Aboi, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Thursday, said 17 persons were rescued from the incidents.

“Property worth about N1.1 billion were saved from destruction within the period while property worth N2.4 billion were destroyed,’’ he said.
Aboi said the 140 fire outbreaks occurred in Kaduna, Zaria and Kafanchan and the service was doing its best to reduce the incidence by educating residents on fire safety measures.
He blamed the outbreaks on negligence and improper installation of electrical appliances, stressing that residents should be careful when handling electrical appliances.
