El-Rufai berates Kaduna Gov Uba for defending Tinubu
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has taken a swipe at his successor, Governor Uba Sani, accusing him of blindly defending President Bola Tinubu while allegedly benefiting from selective federal reimbursements and grants totalling over N150 billion.
In a statement posted on social media, El-Rufai questioned why Sani had been excessively loyal to the presidency.
He suggested that the substantial financial support Kaduna had received in the past 18 months explained the governor’s stance.

“Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why.
“However, confirming that Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions, and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu in the last 18 months, now explains everything,” El-Rufai wrote.
The former governor stated that while Sani was free to defend Tinubu over his economic policies, the people of Kaduna State would ultimately judge the situation at the right time.
El-Rufai’s comments have intensified the growing political rift between him and his successor, with analysts speculating that the former governor may be setting the stage for a major political showdown in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections.
