El-Rufai joins ADC after dramatic exit from APC
Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), making his first major political move since resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this year.
El-Rufai completed his registration and received his membership card on Thursday at the ADC’s U/Sarki Ward office in Kaduna. He arrived with a strong crowd of loyalists, including former aides and several local government chairmen.

The former FCT Minister had dumped the APC on March 10, citing a widening gulf between his principles and the direction of the ruling party. In his resignation letter, El-Rufai sharply criticised the APC leadership, accusing it of abandoning the progressive ideals on which the party was founded.
“Developments in the last two years confirm that there is no desire on the part of those who currently control and run the APC to acknowledge, much less address, the unhealthy situation of the party,” he wrote, noting that his repeated warnings were disregarded.
A major architect of the 2013 coalition that birthed the APC, El-Rufai lamented that the party he helped build had strayed from its original mission.
