Emefiele finally gets bail, ordered to surrender travel documents
A high court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Maitama has granted bail to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
He was however directed to deposit all his travel documents with the court’s registrar.
Emefiele was granted bail after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had complied with the court order made on November 2 to release him or produce him in court.
Emefiele had been in custody since June 9 after his suspension as CBN governor.
In his ruling after the EFCC produced Emefiele, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi ordered that he should be released to his counsel and must be produced in court when needed.
