Enforce party’s state police policy, APC Chieftain urges Tinubu
Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a prominent figure within the All Progressive Congress (APC), has directed a call to President Bola Tinubu and the party’s leadership, urging them to swiftly execute the party’s agenda concerning the decentralization of policing.
Olawepo-Hashim emphasized the urgent need for implementing the policy on state police as a crucial measure to curb the persistent wave of high-profile crimes, including killings and kidnappings, prevalent nationwide.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, following the recent abduction and tragic demise of a monarch in Kwara state, the former presidential aspirant expressed bewilderment at the apparent reluctance of the President and party leadership to spearhead this initiative.

“I fail to comprehend the hesitancy displayed by the President and party leadership in championing this cause,” Olawepo-Hashim remarked. “Considering that many state governments and Local Government Councils are under APC’s governance, alongside the party’s significant presence in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly, securing legislative consensus for establishing state policing should be expedited.”
Olawepo-Hashim asserted that while the immediate establishment of local police forces might not eradicate insecurity in Nigeria, it would substantially mitigate approximately fifty percent of the prevailing challenges.
The call for decisive action on implementing state police reflects growing concerns within the APC ranks regarding the nation’s security landscape, underscoring the imperative for proactive measures to address escalating security threats.
