Enugu govt places N10m bounty on killers of Catholic priest
The Enugu State government has sternly condemned the brutal murder of Rev. Fr. Mathew Eya of the Nsukka Catholic Diocese by unknown gunmen.
The government also expressed sympathy with the late priest’s immediate family, the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, and the Catholic faithful in general following the unfortunate tragedy on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Dr. Malachy Agbo, Commissioner for Information and Communication, issued a statement calling the action cowardly and cold-blooded.

A group of assailants allegedly shot and killed Father Eya along the Alumona-Eha Ndiagu route in Enugu’s Nsukka Local Government Area.
As a result, the government has underlined that the security of people and property is its first concern, and it has committed to bringing the offenders to justice.
It also stated that it would use all available resources, including technology and credible intelligence, to track down the criminals and defeat the state’s last wicked agents.
As a result, the Enugu State Government has offered a 10 million reward to anyone who can provide genuine information that leads to the arrest of the horrible crime’s perpetrators.
