Ex-Plateau governor rejects calls for Atiku, Obi, Mark’s return to PDP
Former governor of Plateau state, Jonah Jang, has rejected calls for the return of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and David Mark to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Jang spoke in Jos at a stakeholders’ meeting of the party’s Plateau caucus.
He said those who left the PDP in pursuit of personal ambition should not be allowed to return, insisting that they abandoned the party at its lowest point.
“They abandoned us when we needed them most. True founding fathers do not desert their house because of temporary challenges,” Jang said.

The former governor added that the PDP must reward loyalty and not open its doors to politicians who only remember the party when it suits them.
On zoning, Jang argued that the PDP’s 2027 presidential ticket should not go to those who left the party, warning that external influences and money politics robbed the PDP of fair zoning in 2023.
The meeting also endorsed Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, for a second term and urged the national leadership to consider the north-central for the chairmanship once Umar Damagum vacates the position.
