Ex-Power Minister Saleh Mamman jailed 75 Years for N33.8bn Fraud
The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years imprisonment over the diversion of public funds amounting to about N33.8 billion.
The conviction followed his prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on charges bordering on money laundering and conspiracy.
According to the anti-graft agency, the funds were linked to the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects and were allegedly diverted during Mamman’s tenure as minister.
The judgment marks a dramatic turn in the high-profile corruption trial, coming months after the court dismissed the former minister’s no-case submission and ordered him to enter his defence.
