The remains of a former coach of the Super Falcons, Ismaila Mabo, were buried on Monday in Jos, Plateau State capital.
Mabo died after a protected illness at the age of 80.
Mabo was the only coach to have led the team to the quarter-finals of both the FIFA Women’s World Cup ( USA 1999) and Women’s Olympic Football Tournament (Athens 2004).
His death was announced by his younger brother and a former Golden Eaglets star player, Salisu Nakande Mamuwa, in the early hours of Monday.
“Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihir raji’un , i just lost my elder brother these morning, Coach Mabo Ismaila , former Chief Coach of Super Falcons of Nigeria, may Aljanna Firdausi b his final abode, Ameen thumma Ameen,” he wrote.
