Fake female police inspector swindles 10 job seekers of millions of naira

The Police intelligence operatives have arrested a 28-year old woman parading herself as a Police Inspector working in the office of Lagos State Commissioner of Police and using it to obtain millions of Naira under the false pretence of recruiting job seekers into the Nigeria Police Force.

The suspect,  Juliana Ashazi Friday, was arrested in Lagos after she defrauded over 10 victims of various sums of money under the false pretence of securing job for them into the Nigeria Police.

Some of the victims included Roseline Phillip, Muntari Garba, Yakubu Garba, Bibian Anthony, Adeyinka Mutiu, Faith Kwembe, Iliya Akwanga, Jummal Bako, Edith Abue, Emmcy Zelon among others.

The suspect was arrested following a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, who directed the Special Squad to apprehend the suspect over several reports against her.

Thus, the Police arrested her and detained her at the Command Headquarters for interrogation over the alleged exortion of money under false pretence.

The suspect, had after obtaining the money in question, bolted away and did not secure any Police job as she had promised hence the report to the Police over her alleged criminal conduct.

She was later arrested by Police intelligence operatives and having been found culpable after interrogation, she was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

Some of the charges read:

“That you Juliana Ashazi Friday ‘f’ and others still at large, sometime between November, 2023 and February, 2024 at about 1100hrs, Bomet camp area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: obtaining money by false preterice, impersonation and thereby committed an offence Contrary to and Punishable under Section 411 of the Crimina Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT II: That you Juliana Ashazi Friday ‘f’ and others still at large, on the sa date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did impersonate Nigeria Police Force by calling yourselves a Police Inspector attached to Lagos Police Commissioner’s office, using it as an advantage to obtain money from and thereby committed an offence Contrary to and Punishable under 77(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT III: That you Juliana Ashazi Friday ‘f’ and others still at large, at same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did obtained various sum money from victims omunder the pretence of helping them secure Police job and thereby committed an offence contravening Section 314(1) of the Criminal law of the State.”

She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Ex. Kubenije, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
