Family dismisses sexual abuse claim against prominent figure as false, politically driven

Ilorin, Kwara State — Miss Aishat Kamardeen, a teenager alleged to have been sexually abused, has denied the claim, describing it as baseless, politically motivated, and intended to tarnish the reputation of a prominent individual in the state.

Aishat, who will turn 18 in February 2026, made the clarification while speaking alongside her parents during an interview with journalists in Ilorin over the weekend.

“I was never raped by anyone. The rumors circulating online are false and politically driven. People should disregard those publications,” she said.

She explained that her acquaintance with the person mentioned in the report stemmed from her request for financial assistance, noting that the individual is widely known for his generosity and philanthropy.

The allegation, which recently surfaced online, had claimed that Aishat, allegedly 15 years old, was sexually assaulted. Some observers had suggested that the story was orchestrated to damage the image of a notable political figure in Kwara State.

Her father, Mr. Kamardeen, also refuted the report, describing his daughter as disciplined, religious, and well-trained.

“When I first heard that one ‘Aisha Kamardeen’ had been raped, I didn’t even think it was my daughter. The publication mentioned a 15-year-old, but my daughter will be 18 in February next year,” he explained. “The story was fabricated to tarnish the image of someone who has been helping the less privileged.”

Similarly, Mrs. Tawalitu Kamardeen, Aishat’s mother, described her daughter as morally upright and religious, insisting that the report was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

“We call on well-meaning Nigerians to disregard the false online publication,” she said. “My daughter is not 15 years old, and she has never been raped.”
