United States President Donald Trump and Nigeria Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode
Fani-Kayode condemns Trump’s threat of military action against Nigeria, urges national resistance
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has issued a fiery response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks suggesting possible military intervention in Nigeria. Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account on Saturday, accused the Nigerian government of failing to protect Christians and instructed the U.S. Department of War to prepare for potential action.
In his post, Trump warned that the United States would halt all aid to Nigeria and might launch a swift and forceful operation to eliminate what he described as “Islamic terrorists” responsible for the alleged atrocities. “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians,” Trump wrote, “the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’”.
Reacting on Sunday via X (formerly Twitter), Fani-Kayode denounced Trump’s comments as reckless and inflammatory. He described the U.S. president as a “deranged and sociopathic megalomaniac,” accusing him of hypocrisy and double standards in global affairs. The former minister argued that Trump has ignored other international crises while unfairly targeting Nigeria.

“Trump, a fascist and an associate of the globally recognized Hitler of the 21st century, Netanyahu, has refused to call the Israeli Zionist Nazis and the UAE-backed RSF butchers of Darfur mass murderers,” Fani-Kayode wrote. “Yet he is calling our people the ‘killers of Christians’ and trying to label our nation with the genocide tag”.
Fani-Kayode emphasized that Nigerians must not yield to foreign intimidation. He recounted a conversation with a concerned friend, affirming that if Trump’s threat materializes, Nigerians would stand their ground. “We shall not leave the country but we will fight it out with them,” he declared.
Calling for bold and courageous leadership, Fani-Kayode urged Nigerians to reject complacency and defend the nation’s sovereignty. He warned against allowing Western powers to dictate Nigeria’s internal affairs and stressed the importance of national unity in the face of external threats.
The Nigerian government has not officially responded to Trump’s remarks, though previous statements have denied any persecution of religious groups in the country.
