Former Minister of Aviation and avowed critic of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has said he facilitated the defection of three governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
He stated this on Thursday after he was presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by Mai Mala Buni, chairman, caretaker committee of the APC and governor of Yobe State, at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Fani-Kayode, who announced his membership of the ruling party, said he was led by the spirit of God in his decision to join the APC.
He said he was instrumental in the defection of three PDP governors to the APC and listed the governors as Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Ben Ayade of Cross River, and Bello Matawale of Zamfara.
He said he has friends across party lines and that he is currently wooing Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu State, Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo state, and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi to join the ruling party.
The former minister said he remained committed to the unity of the country and that he is against anything that would cause the disintegration of Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode’s defection is coming several months after he had denied dumping the PDP.
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, had in February claimed that Fani-Kayode had crossed over to the APC.
But Fani-Kayode denied the claim, insisting that he was still a member of PDP.
