FCT police arrest two over killing of Grace Godwin in ‘one chance’ robbery
Four months after the tragic death of 23-year-old Grace Godwin, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to her killing during a “one chance” robbery incident.
Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the Command received a distress call on Saturday, July 12, 2025, reporting the discovery of an unconscious young woman by the roadside along Iya Abubakar Street in Life Camp, Abuja. The victim, later identified as Miss Grace Godwin, was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Godwin had closed from work on Friday, July 11, and boarded a commercial vehicle operated by a criminal gang known for robbing unsuspecting passengers.

“With the aid of digital reconstructive intelligence, operatives traced and arrested two members of the gang, identified as Kabiru Abdullahi, 25, and Solomon Tanko, 35,” Adeh said.
She explained that both suspects were residents of the same Dape community as the deceased and were known to her. During the robbery, Godwin reportedly recognised them, leading to a struggle.
“In the course of the struggle, Kabiru Abdullahi strangled her with a plastic nylon bag after she bit his finger in self-defence,” Adeh added.
Recovered items from the suspects include a golden-coloured Toyota Camry, commonly referred to as “Pencil Light,” and plastic nylon bags allegedly used in the crime.
Adeh confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, extended condolences to the family of the deceased and assured residents of the FCT of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety and justice.
