Fear grips Kastina residents as robbers escape from prison
Katsina residents are concerned about the escape of armed robbery and car snatching suspects from the Katsina central jail institution.
Abba Kala, accused of masterminding multiple robberies and car snatching operations in Katsina, Plateau, and other nearby states, is one of the escapees.
Kala was said to have used his phone while in jail at the Katsina Correctional Facility to plan a car theft operation.
The controller of correctional services in Katsina, Muhammad Abdulmumini Haruna, confirmed the occurrence to a portion of the media, but added that evading security personnel was nothing new.

“It is not something new for crime suspects to escape from the custody of security agents. We have seen that with the police and even the army who could shoot on the spot.
“So, it is true that two persons who are awaiting trial sneaked out of the correctional centre. But I have informed our sister security agencies and even shared the information with motor parks, and fortunately we have rearrested one while we are on the pursuit of the other,” he said.
The question on the lips many residents were how could the two suspects sneak out of a well secured place like prison without detection by security operatives.
There are growing concerns and apprehension in Katsina over the unfortunate disappearance of the two dangerous suspects from the correctional facility even as authorities are reassuring that there is no course for alarm and one of the escapees has been rearrested.
