Fear grips Osogbo community as man found murdered after morning prayers

Panic gripped residents of the Dada Estate area in Osogbo, Osun State, on Monday morning following the discovery of a lifeless body identified as Adebisi Moruf, who was reportedly killed while returning from the mosque around 6:30am.

According to eyewitness reports, Moruf, a respected member of the community, had just concluded his early morning prayers when he was attacked by unknown assailants along Church Street, in the Church Area of Dada Estate.

The incident was first reported by a local farmer, Mr. Oyewole, who stumbled upon the body while on his way to his farm. He immediately alerted officers at the Dada Estate Police Station, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, said:

“The matter happened around 6:30 a.m. One Mr. Oyewole, a farmer, discovered the body and reported it to our station. The victim was later identified as Adebisi Moruf. His body was found along Church Street, and it has since been evacuated.”

Ojelabi noted that the Police Intelligence Unit has already been deployed to the area to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing.

“Our intelligence department is on the ground, moving through the area to gather information on what could have led to this tragic incident. An autopsy will also be conducted to aid our investigation.”

He added that the police are committed to ensuring justice is served and that the perpetrators are brought to book.

“We understand the growing concerns among residents, and we want to assure the people of Osun State that we are doing everything possible to unravel the motive and individuals behind this act.”
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked fear and anxiety in the community, with some residents calling for increased security presence, especially during early morning and late-night hours.
As of the time of this report, no arrests had been made, and the police urged anyone with useful information to come forward with it.
