FG Approved Joint Nigeria–US Airstrikes on ISIS Targets in North-West — DHQ
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that the recent joint airstrikes by Nigerian and United States military forces against Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist elements in North-West Nigeria were carried out with the approval of appropriate Federal Government authorities.
This was disclosed on Friday by the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, in a statement on the operation, which he said was part of coordinated efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and criminal groups threatening Nigeria’s national security.

According to the DHQ, the precision strikes were executed based on credible intelligence and detailed operational planning, with the objective of degrading the operational capabilities of ISIS-linked fighters while minimising collateral damage.
Uba noted that the Nigeria–US joint military operation reflects the resolve of the Federal Government of Nigeria, working with strategic international partners, to confront transnational terrorism and prevent foreign fighters from gaining or expanding a foothold within the country.
He reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that the military would continue to support joint, inter-agency and international security efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability nationwide.
