FG increases monthly pension of retirees by N32,000

The Federal Government has approved an increase of N32,000 in the monthly pension paid to its retirees.

The National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission, which announced the pension increase said it would apply to retirees from specific salary schemes, including health workers, doctors, lecturers, police, paramilitary, and armed forces personnel.

The decision came after President Bola Tinubu approved the new minimum wage law, which took effect on July 29, 2024.

The retirees affected by this increase are from agencies covered under various consolidated salary structures in the public service.

It was learnt that agencies outside these structures would need to apply for a pension review based on relevant legal provisions.
