FG launches manhaunt for fleeing Binance executive
The Federal Gvoernment on Monday confirmed the escape from custody, a, executive Binance, identified as Nadeem Anjarwalla.
The Office of the National Security Adviser officially confirmed the escape of the detained executive of Binance, stating that Anjarwalla fled on Friday.
In a statement on Monday by Zakari Mijinyawa, the Head of Strategic Communication at ONSA, the Federal government said preliminary investigations indicate that Anjarwalla left Nigeria using a smuggled passport.
He said efforts are underway, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, government departments, and the international community, to locate and apprehend the suspect, adding that Interpol has been engaged to secure an international arrest warrant for Anjarwalla.

Mijinyawa disclosed that individuals responsible for Anjarwalla’s custody have been detained, and a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his escape. The statement reiterated the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian government to investigate money laundering and terrorism financing activities on the Binance platform.
Until his escape, Anjarwalla, who holds British and Kenyan citizenship and serves as Binance’s Africa regional manager, was undergoing trial in Nigerian courts. He absconded while under a 14-day remand order, with his next court appearance scheduled for April 4, 2024.
The statement urged both Nigerians and the international community to provide any information that could aid in Anjarwalla’s arrest.
