Finally NLC, TUC back down on planned strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress on Monday night suspended their planned strike fixed for Wednesday over the removal of petrol subsidy.

The suspension was announced in a communique issued after leaders of both unions met with representatives of the Federal Government at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This came after the National Industrial Court of Nigeria had given an interim order restraining the labour groups from going on strike.

The communique was signed by TUC President, Festus Osifo; Secretary General, Nuhu Toro; NLC President, Joseph Ajaero; Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja; Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ms Kachollom Daju.
