Fire outbreak at Sokoto police command, Imam’s quarters, chapel razed
A massive fire erupted at the Sokoto State Police Command in the early hours of Saturday, reducing several key offices to ashes and sparking concerns over the cause of the blaze.
The fire, which broke out around 5 a.m., tore through the offices of high-ranking officials, including the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, the Command’s Chapel, and even the Chief Imam’s quarters.
In a statement to the press, the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, confirmed the shocking incident, stating, “The fire gutted a section of the one-story administration block of the Command, destroying several critical offices.”

He further detailed that the inferno obliterated the confidential office, the Chief Superintendent’s office, and various other administrative hubs, though, fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Despite ruling out any immediate signs of foul play, Rufa’i assured the public that an investigation was underway to uncover the cause of the blaze and assess the extent of the damage.
“There was no one in that section when the fire broke out,” he added, hinting at a possible electrical fault or other technical failure as the cause.
