Ford goes more elegant with Ice-White Mustangs (coupe) edition

Ford has announced the introduction of an Ice-White Edition as an addition to the elegant Mustang option list. This is considered a revival of vintage special edition for Mustang.

It specifically states that it will offer Mustang and Mustang Mach-E Ice White Edition models for 2022, noting that this white-on-white package is coming for the first time since 1993.

The Ice White editions will be available for Mustang GT Premium, Mustang EcoBoost Premium, and Mustang Mach-E Premium models, it says.

Auto reviews including cnet.com note that it is the first time Ford is rolling out a package available for both the Mustang coupe and the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV.

Ford reveals this special edition in time to kick off the Woodward Dream Cruise, which takes place on the famed Woodward Avenue in Michigan on the third Saturday of every August.

Ford says this package also pays homage to the 1993 Mustang LX convertible Fox-Body that was painted in triple white.

Mustang Brand Marketing Manager Jim Owens says, “Mustang has always had the power to attract attention on the road, but the new Mustang Ice White Edition could—just like the original ’93 triple-white Fox-body feature Mustang—become one of the hot collectibles of future generations.”

A report by autoweek.com says the Mustang GT Premium and EcoBoost Premium will be finished in Oxford white and feature white badging.

According to Ford, the 19-inch machined wheels are also Oxford white, just like the white wheels on the triple-white Fox-body.

Viewing the inside, it is said to be the mostly black interior features white accents: namely, white inserts in the seats and door panels, as well as a white insert on the dash.

The Mustang Mach-E Premium is the same colour with matching badges. The seats, arm rest, and center console are light space grey, while the rest of the interior is black.

In its Roadshow report, cnet.com says for the Mustang Mach-E, this package will be available with the Premium trim exclusively and wears a Star White Metallic exterior color. Exterior trim also ditches dark colors in favor of white accents, including the pony badge, and 19-inch wheels with white-painted pockets complete the look. Ford kept trying to use the phrase “ice-out” to describe the look, but let’s not try and make that a thing, shall we?

The SUV’s interior dons light gray upholstery and a silver hex pattern provides some interesting detail to the instrument panel. Like the exterior, the cockpit also sports white pony badges.

Moving on to the Mustang coupe, the car’s look borrows inspiration from the 1993 Triple White Fox Body Mustang. It wears an Oxford White exterior color complete with ice-white elements around the taillights and 19-inch wheels that throw it back to the ’90s in their design. The interior rocks a black-and-white look with white leather inserts on the doors and seats, while contrasting white stitching breaks up the black on various trim pieces. An aluminum accent on the dash helps keep the pony car’s cooler mode going.

Ford says these Ice Edition Mustangs will be available to order in the fall and are expected to arrive at dealerships early in 2022.
