Former AGF Abubakar Malami Confirms EFCC Invitation, Vows to Honour Probe
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed that he was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and has pledged to fully comply with the anti-graft agency’s request.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Malami said he remains committed to the principles of transparency and accountability in public service.
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” he wrote.
Malami explained that his decision to publicly address the invitation aligns with his long-standing advocacy for openness in governance and responsible leadership.

“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service — principles that I both advocate and champion,” he added, noting that he will continue to inform the public as events unfold.
As of press time, the EFCC had not yet clarified the specific reasons for inviting the former minister.
Malami, who served as Attorney-General of the Federation for eight years under the Buhari administration, was a key figure in major legal battles, asset recovery operations, anti-corruption drives, and several controversial policy decisions that drew both criticism and commendation.
His tenure also involved handling high-profile financial crime cases, international arbitration disputes, and governance reforms. In his final years in office, he faced intensified scrutiny over asset declarations, contract processes, and the management of recovered public funds.
The former AGF assured Nigerians that he would cooperate fully with investigators while upholding the values he says guided his time in government.
