Former Delta Senator Peter Nwaoboshi dies, Oborevwori says loss painful
Former senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has passed away.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the circumstances of his death had not been officially disclosed.
Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep grief over the demise of the former lawmaker, describing it as a monumental loss to Delta State, the Anioma nation and the country at large.
In a condolence message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said Senator Nwaoboshi was a distinguished son of Delta whose life was defined by courage, service and unwavering commitment to the development of his people.
Oborevwori recalled the late senator’s impactful tenure at the National Assembly, particularly his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, noting that his passionate advocacy for the Niger Delta and Delta State earned him respect across political divides.

He further noted that Nwaoboshi’s political journey was anchored on deep-rooted party loyalty, democratic values and selfless service, having also served twice as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
According to the governor, the former senator devoted his life to public service, leaving behind a legacy marked by bold leadership, loyalty and dedication to nation-building.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” Oborevwori said.
“I extend my sincere condolences to his family, the Anioma people, members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and all who were touched by his life and service.
“I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.”
