Former Governor Suswam Joins APC, Collects Membership Card

Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), collecting his membership card in a move that marks a significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Suswam made the announcement during a brief ceremony attended by APC officials, party leaders, and supporters, where he expressed optimism about contributing to the party’s agenda of national development, unity, and good governance.

According to Suswam, his decision to join the ruling party was motivated by a desire to align with national policies, influence governance positively, and play a role in shaping the political future of Benue State and the broader region.

“I am pleased to officially join the APC family. I believe this platform will allow me to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s progress and participate in the democratic process for the benefit of our people,” Suswam said.

The former governor, who previously served under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), indicated that his switch to APC reflects a broader trend of political realignments in Nigeria, particularly as the 2027 elections approach.

APC leaders welcomed Suswam into the party, noting that his experience as a former governor and lawmaker would be invaluable to the party’s strategic planning, policy formulation, and grassroots mobilization.

Political analysts suggest that Suswam’s defection could have significant implications in Benue State, potentially influencing voter sentiment and altering the balance of political power ahead of upcoming elections.

The ceremony concluded with Suswam receiving his APC membership card, symbolizing his formal entry into the party and reaffirming his commitment to participate actively in its political and governance activities.

Observers note that Suswam’s move aligns with a wider trend of prominent politicians switching allegiances, signaling strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 polls.
