Sule Ishaya, former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in the Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, has been assassinated and his wife abducted.
Gunmen reportedly invaded the house of Ishaya on Sunday night in New Bwari community of Tafa and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife before shooting him.
According to family sources, his assailants had gained access into his house using a ladder to scale the fence.
They said the ex-party chairman’s house was the only place attacked by the gunmen.
A PDP chieftain, who confirmed the incident on condition of anonymity, said, “He was stabbed in the stomach; they also shot him to make sure that he was dead.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, saying that they were investigating the matter.
The family members and the PDP said that they had not heard from the abductors of the late party leader’s wife.
