Forum Calls on Tinubu to Remove Wike Over Rivers Political Crisis
A civil society group, the Karamchi Online Journalists Forum, has called on President Bola Tinubu to sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, over an alleged political rift involving Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the forum accused Wike of disrespecting and intimidating Governor Fubara, whom it described as a full and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group’s national chairman, Sani Ahmad Zangina, said it was “unfair and unbecoming” for Wike, whom he described as a non-member of the APC, to openly ridicule and undermine a sitting governor of the ruling party.
“For the sake of national unity and the progress of the APC, Wike should be mandated — if not outrightly sacked — to respect without limit the governor of Rivers State as a full member and loyal adherent of the ruling party,” Zangina said.

The forum also criticised Wike’s recent remarks suggesting that Governor Fubara had no guarantee of an automatic ticket in 2027, describing such comments as provocative and destabilising.
According to the group, the presidency “cannot afford to lose a biological son in favour of an adopted one,” insisting that Governor Fubara should be allowed to govern Rivers State without harassment or political intimidation.
The forum further described Wike as an opposition figure and urged him to desist from what it termed insults, coercion, and political pressure against the Rivers governor.
“In the interest of safeguarding democracy, party unity, peace, and national cohesion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should immediately halt all actions that undermine democratic governance or relieve the FCT minister of his position without delay,” the statement added.
The group warned that no individual should be allowed to abuse state power to target political opponents or intimidate elected officials under any guise.
