Four arrested over death of 18-year-old lady in Yobe Govt House

The police have commenced investigation into the death of an 18-year old lady at a government house guest lodge in Damaturu, Yobe State.

Already, four persons have been arrested in connection with the death of the lady that occurred on Thursday.

It was gathered the deceased just finished her secondary school in 2020.

Police sources named the prime suspect as Al-Bash Yahaya Ibrahim and that he is being detained with the other three suspects at Police B Division in Damaturu.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident.

He said, “Yes, we have four suspects in our custody over suspected homicide (killing) of one girl who died at a government lodge in Damaturu. The case is now with the state CID under investigation.”

He said Yahaya reported to the police that he lodged at the guest house with the lady girl and that she died in his room after they had sex.

The suspect reportedly said that he was a guest at the Government House and had requested some ‘boys’ to arrange a lady for him for the night and they brought the lady.

“He said he slept with her only to discover in the morning that the lady was under the influence of drugs.

“Dr Al-Bash said the girl was shivering and doing some funny things. Our preliminary investigation also revealed that the girl was a drug addict,” Dungus said.

The PPRO said, “Dr Al-Bash called the boys that brought the girl and informed them of the development and they started administering milk to the girl and she died in the process.

“What I can tell you now is that we are investigating a case of homicide against Dr. Al-Bash Yahaya Ibrahim, a principal suspect and three others.”

The corpse has been deposited at the Yobe State Specialist Hospital, Damaturu awaiting autopsy.
