Four dead, seven injured in Ilorin-Ogbomosho road accident

At least four persons died in an auto accident involving a truck and commuter bus along Ilorin-Ogbomoso road on Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred at Ote a few kilometres to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, with the two vehicles having a head-on collision.

Seven other people sustained injury in the accident which involved 18 people – ten males and eight females.

Some of the victims on the bus were said to have been burnt beyond recognition.

Some FRSC officials were at the accident scene engaged in rescue operation.

The Federal Road Safety Corps said that the four dead victims included two males and two females.

It said that seven persons – three males and four females – who had varying degrees of injuries were rescued from the accident.

The Kwara Sector Commander of the FRSC, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the accident, said that six victims were taken to the state general hospital in Ilorin and one person taken to a private hospital at Eyenkorin near Ilorin.

The remains of the dead persons were deposited at the general hospital, Ilorin by the FRSC and police team.
