Fuel scarcity: Shettima summons Lokpobiri, Mele Kyari, others
Vice President Kashim Shettima has held an emergency meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, over the lingering fuel scarcity across the country.
The meeting held on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, currently on an official visit to China, also included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Also at the meeting with VP Shettima at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday is Ugbogu Ukoha, the executive director of the Nigerian Mainstream, Downstream, and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Lokpobiri spoke to reporters at the State House after the meeting, assuring the public that the fuel crisis would soon be resolved.
According to him, the NNPC has sufficient fuel to meet nation’s demand.
Lokpobiri urged Nigerians to remain calm, adding that increased availability of petroleum products would foster competition and drive down prices.
