The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed as a rumour the report of a popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, emerging as a running mate to the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election.
It said the governorship candidate of the party, Dr Olajide Adediran, had not announced his running mate.
The Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Hakeem Amode, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the party was not aware of any running mate yet.
He was reacting to a reported of the emergence of Funke Akindele as a running mate nominee to the PDP governorship candidate.
According to him, the state PDP governoship candidate will soon announce his running mate and everybody will know.
“It is not in my place to announce who the running mate to our governorship candidate, Jandor, is. Let us wait for the candidate himself to announce.

“The candidate of the party will announce who his running mate is and he has not done that. We should wait for the official announcement.”
Akindele was earlier reportedly chosen the deputy governorship candidate among five nominees shortlisted for the position.
The five names shortlisted for the position are Akindele; former governorship aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo, another governorship aspirant, David Kolawole Vaughan known as Dakova and Teslim Balogun.
