G-20: Brazil takes over leadership from India
India formally handed over the G20 chairmanship to Brazil this weekend during the summit’s closing ceremony in New Delhi.
In order to complete the transition of power, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed the ceremonial gavel of the presidency to Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
India will occupy the G20 leadership through November 30 after Indonesia vacated the position on December 1.

During the two-day summit, the group adopted a consensus declaration in which it made commitments on a range of issues, including climatic change, the vulnerability of global debt, and food and energy security.
The group should have a “virtual summit” by the end of November to assess the advancement of the ideas and projects put up by the members and determine “how their progress can be accelerated,” Modi also said on Sunday.
“In that session, we can review the topics decided during this summit,” Modi said, adding that details would be shared with members.
