Gbajabiamila finally resigns from House of Reps
Femi Gbajabiamila has resigned his membership of the newly inaugurated 10th House of Representatives.
The former Speaker had been inaugurated along with his colleagues on Tuesday.
The new Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read Gbajabiamila’s letter of resignation during plenary on Wednesday.
Gbajabiamila said his resignation was to enable him to assume the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
He was named Chief of Staff to Tinubu last week but said he would only resign from the House this week.
With his resignation from the House, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will now conduct a fresh election to fill the vacant seat at the lower legislative chamber.
