A 30-year old Ahmad Sagir popularly called Khalifah, an ardent supporter of Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa, on Sunday fell off from a moving vehicle in the governor’s convoy en route Bajoga/Funakaye local government for an official assignment.
He died instantly after suffering from a fractured skull.
Governor Inuwa immediately disengaged the ambulance in his convoy to take Khalifah straight to the State Teaching Hospital Gombe for better medical attention.
A source said that Ahmad had died on the spot before being taken away.
The governor was feasibly shaken as the effect affected his disposition at the event.
He was said to have cut short his speech at the event and put on hold other engagements at Bajoga to honour the deceased.
The funeral prayer for Late Ahmad was observed the same day at the Specialist Hospital with Inuwa leading the state delegation.
Inuwa described the incident as “heart-wrenching.”
A confirmation statement by the Director-General, Press Affairs Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the governor described the young party faithful as “a respectful, hard, working and promising fellow who was known for his diehard support for APC and Governor Yahaya’s project.”
