Gombe police arrest 15-year-old suspect in armed robbery spree

The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended a 15-year-old suspect, Abubakar Aliyu of Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, in connection with a series of armed robberies and burglaries in the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe metropolis.

The arrest followed a swift investigation launched after a female resident reported a robbery on October 15. According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the victim was attacked in the early hours of the morning by a knife-wielding assailant who made away with several valuable items.

Recovered from the suspect were an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at ₦800,000, an Apple MacBook laptop worth ₦250,000, an Apple Watch, an Oraimo Power Bank, and a pink school bag. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Further investigations revealed that Aliyu had previously conspired with an accomplice, identified only as Hadi, who remains at large. On October 8, the duo allegedly broke into another residence in the same neighborhood, stealing a Samsung Fold 3 smartphone, a Black View Tab 80, two rings, a counter, and a car key. Some of these items have also been recovered.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, commended the officers involved for their prompt and effective response, describing the arrest as a major stride in the Command’s ongoing efforts to curb violent crime in the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety.
