Governors discuss constitution amendment, stamp duty in Abuja meeting
State governors convened in Abuja on Wednesday to deliberate on pressing national issues, including constitutional amendments and stamp duty policies.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was scheduled to brief the governors on the progress made in constitutional amendments. Kalu, who chairs the Constitution Review Committee, revealed that the House has received 40 bills to review and amend the Constitution.
He further noted that the House is targeting December 2025 as the deadline to finalize the amendments, emphasizing the importance of addressing critical national concerns through legislative reforms.

Correspondents obtained the meeting’s agenda, which highlighted additional discussions on the Africa Investment Forum (AIF), which aims to boost regional economic growth and investments.
Additionally, Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa was expected to provide updates on developments within the education sector, further underscoring the meeting’s broad focus on national development.
