Thousands of young people on Saturday held a solidarity rally in support of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, and his vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, in buildup to the 2023 presidential poll.
They included Hausa and Ndigbos groups, marching through Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, after converging on Maryland Roundabout, to Police College, GRA.
The rally organised by a support group, led by Seyi Tinubu, son of the APC presidential candidate was tagged ‘Eko Youth Walk for Tinubu/Shettima, Governor Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat’s re-election’.
The rally resulted in a serious gridlock in the Ikeja area of Lagos as motorists and other road users had to make use of alternative routes to their various destinations.
Participants at the rally sang solidarity songs for Tinubu/Shettima and Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat’s re-election, spotting White, Yellow, Orage T-Shirts, bearing, “Vote for Tinubu/Shettima Presidency, Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat re-election in Lagos, as they walked along the highway, saying, “Awa Lokan, Tinubu Lokan for President,” amid exchanged of banters with passers-by, and motorists.
The youths were later addressed at the Ikeja Police College with various musicians entertaining the crowd.
