Group condemns Bello investigation, says it’s politically-motivated
The North Central Integrity Group has condemned what they deem as politically-motivated attacks against former Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello.
In a press statement sent to The Sun on Sunday, the group expressed deep concern over the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) hastened investigation into Governor Bello’s alleged involvement in a fraud case, citing it as a ploy to undermine the interests of the North Central region.
“We denounce the undue haste in investigating Governor Bello’s alleged involvement in a fraud case. This rush appears to be orchestrated by adversaries seeking to undermine the North Central’s interests,” said Mallam Musa Audu, Convener of the North Central Integrity Group.
The group highlighted the recent controversy surrounding the appointment of the National Chairman position within the APC, stating that the North Central’s objections to the appointment of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from the Northwest over a North Central nominee were met with unwarranted retaliation.

“The appointment of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from the Northwest over a North Central nominee is a clear departure from fairness,” remarked Audu.
The North Central Integrity Group firmly believes that the ongoing campaign against Governor Bello is politically motivated, aimed at thwarting the North Central’s rightful claim to the APC’s National Chairman position.
“We demand the rectification of the unjust decision to strip the North Central of its rightful leadership role within the party and urge Ganduje to focus on internal party affairs rather than targeting Governor Bello,” stated Audu.
In a direct appeal to the President and influential party members, the group called for immediate intervention to restore fairness and uphold the North Central’s rightful claim to the National Chairman position, previously held by Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
“We call on the President to restore fairness by reinstating the North Central’s rightful claim to the National Chairman position, previously held by Senator Abdullahi Adamu. We appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to swiftly intervene and address this injustice to prevent further escalation,” concluded Audu.
