Gunmen have abducted a professor of Engineering at the Ambrose Alli University, Edo State.
The victim, Prof. Osadolor Odia, was reportedly taken hostage on Thursday while going to the farm at Ekpoma in the Esan West LGA.
A family source said his kidnappers had already contacted them to demand a ransom of N18m for the release of the professor.
The university spokesman, Edward Aihevba, also confirmed Odia’s abduction although he did not provide details about the development.
In March, gunmen had attacked the National Institute of Construction Technology in Uromi, Edo. They kidnapped a lecturer and two students.
Two months earlier, a spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state was also abducted.
