Gunmen abduct Ogun traffic official on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Some gunmen have abducted an official of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Popoola Olasupo, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He was said to have been abducted about 6:30am on Sunday at the Eledumare-Fidiwo section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while on the way to his duty post.

The gunmen had reportedly opened fire on a commercial bus Olasupo was travelling in, forcing it to stop and took him away.

Witnesses said no other passenger of the bus was kidnapped except the TRACE officer.

Efforts to get the reaction of the state spokesperson for the corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, were unsuccessful as he neither picked his call nor responded to a text message sent to his phone.

Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

“Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them; we are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested,” he said.
