A yet-to-be-confirmed number of persons have been feared killed after unknown gunmen launched a deadly attack near the Afor Market Junction in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Sunday evening.

Panic spread through the community as the assailants reportedly opened fire on unsuspecting residents, leaving several people dead while others fled for safety.

A resident said the attack was sudden and coordinated.
“The armed hoodlums invaded Afor Market Junction and immediately opened fire, killing a lot of people. Nobody knows the reason behind the attack,” he said.
