Gunmen attack police checkpoint, set van ablaze
Gunmen attacked a police check-point on the Abakaliki-Enugu Highway, setting fire to a police patrol van on Thursday.
According to reports, the event occurred near the Ishieke Junction on the outskirts of the Abakaliki metropolis.
According to local sources, the gunmen killed an officer and abducted another, although this could not be independently verified as of the time of reporting this report.

However, he denied knowledge of the killing or abduction of any police officer saying reports from the scene were still sketchy.
