Gunmen have kidnapped some students of the Naval College of Engineering, Sapele in Delta State.
An 18-seater bus conveying the students from Kaduna to Sapele was said to have been attacked in an area in Edo State and the occupants abducted.
The incident was said to have happened on Monday while the students were returning to their school in Sapele.
Police spokesperson in Edo, Kotongs Bello, who confirmed the development on Wednesday said 14 of the abducted students have been rescued.
Bello said the 14 students were rescued by officers of the command while five others are still with the abductors.
He added that the police are currently on the trail of the kidnappers to rescue the remaining students.
The school authority has not issued any statement or made any pronouncement on the incident.
The incident is the latest in a series of abductions of students across the country.
Three weeks ago, 120 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna State, were abducted when bandits invaded the school.
A total of 38 students have regained their freedom while 83 are still being held by the abductors.
