Gunmen have killed Kogi State Pension Board commissioner, Solomon Adebayo.

They also abducted Chairman of Yagba West LGA, Pius Kolawole, who was said to be with the commissioner at the time of the incident.

The pension commissioner was said to be returning from Ilorin to Kabba, Kogi, when the gunmen fired several shots at his vehicle around Eruku, some kilometres to Egbe.

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Ovye Aya, who confirmed the incident, said Adebayo died after sustaining bullet wounds.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at ECWA Hospital, Egbe.

Aya added that the state police command had commenced a search for the whereabouts of the LGA chairman.

He said, “The commissioner of police in the state, Mr Ede Ayuba, has deployed personnel to the area to search for and rescue the chairman from his abductors. The command is not resting on its oars to secure his release.”
