Gunmen kill policeman, vigilante in Sokoto attack

In Sokoto State, gunmen have reportedly killed one policeman and a vigilante during a patrol early Monday morning.

The attack occurred around 3 a.m. at Kwanan Milgoma along the Sokoto-Bodinga road.

Although the Sokoto Police Command spokesman was unavailable for comment, a senior police officer confirmed the incident on condition of anonymity.

The officer reported that the assailants arrived in a white Hilux and ambushed the operatives at a checkpoint. They opened fire, resulting in the deaths of the policeman and vigilante before fleeing with two AK-47 rifles.

The victims’ bodies have been taken to the mortuary at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.
