Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League table after a narrow 1–0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor, with Erling Haaland’s early goal proving decisive in a match that also confirmed Burnley’s relegation.

Striker Erling Haaland struck in the fifth minute, finishing clinically after a fast start from City, as Pep Guardiola’s side immediately seized control of the game. Burnley, managed by Scott Parker, showed brief resilience after conceding early, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Despite a few promising openings, they were unable to find the finishing touch needed to rescue their survival hopes.

The defeat confirmed Burnley’s relegation to the Championship after a difficult campaign marked by inconsistency and a lack of attacking efficiency, with just one win recorded in their last 25 league matches.
