OSOGBO, Nigeria – A devastating hit-and-run accident along the Osogbo/Gbongan road in the Oogi community has claimed the lives of two police officers, plunging the Osun State Police Command into mourning.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, the eve of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, when a speeding Lexus car struck a motorcycle carrying the two officers. The driver immediately fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, but a manhunt is now actively underway to track him down.

The Osun State Police Command has officially identified the deceased officers as Kehinde Adeleke and Lance Corporal Oluwatobiloba Odedina, aged 28. According to police sources, Lance Corporal Odedina was riding the motorcycle while his colleague, Adeleke, was the passenger when the Lexus vehicle rammed into them. Kehinde Adeleke died instantly at the crash scene, while Lance Corporal Odedina was rushed to a hospital in Osogbo but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. One of the deceased officers has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
