Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat
Hoodlums suspected to be ritual killers have beheaded a 37-year-old security guard identified as Anthony Egbo, at Elebele Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
It was learnt that the incident occurred on Wednesday night on the premises of the Living Faith Church, otherwise known as Winners Chapel in the community, where the deceased was a private security guard.
Daily Trust gathered that the assistant pastor of the church discovered the mutilated corpse of the victim on the church premises.

According to a source in the community, the head of the deceased was severed from the body while the throat was missing.
A resident of the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Daily Trust that the corpse of the victim was discovered at about 5.50am.
He said, “When people saw him, he was beheaded. His throat was missing. People suspected that it may be a ritual killing.”
Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the killing, said the corpse had been recovered and deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa for autopsy.
He said investigation was ongoing to unravel the cause of the incident.
