At least four people were on Sunday burnt to death in an auto crash along Ijebu-Ode-Benin expressway, Ogun State.
The accident involved a 14-passenger bus engulfed in fire around 11.50am having run into a tanker leaking black oil on the road at Atoyo inbound Ogbere.
A sourced that witnessed the accident said the tanker laden with black oil was spilling its content on the road.
Traffic officials were said to have diverted traffic to other side of the road to save other vehicles from having contact with the spilled oil on the road.
It was gathered that the driver of the bus which was on high speed disobeyed the warning at the diversion point and chose to drive through black oil.
In the process, the driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle, and plunged into the bush, hitting a tree.
The impact of the accident was said to have resulted in an explosion, which burnt four of the passengers to death.
Ten other passengers were said to have escaped the incident.
At press time, the Divisional Police Command had reportedly taken over the matter while the tanker driver was in police custody.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident.
