A 38-year-old housewife, Mrs Hulaira Audu, and four others have been kidnapped at Okatubo community in Kogi LGA of Kogi State.
A relative of one of the victims, simply identified as Salihu, said the incident happened on Sunday at about 6pm while they were returning from Kotonkarfe market in the area.
He said the victims were returning from the market inside a pickup van when the kidnappers, wielding AK-47 rifles, suddenly emerged from the bush and stopped them.
“In fact, it was just a few kilometres away from neighbouring Adingere village, when the kidnappers some of them wearing army uniform ambushed them and whisked the woman and four other traders, including the driver into the bush at gunpoint,” he said.

He said no contact has been established with the kidnappers.
A member of the vigilante, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the kidnap of a housewife and four others.
He said the vigilante in Kotonkarfe have already alerted some of their members in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to mobilise into the forest to rescue the victims.
“The village shares boundary with Nasarawa State,” he said.
The spokesman of Kogi State Police Command, CSP Williams Ovye Aya, was did not pick calls or reply a text message sent to him about the kidnap incident.
